Saudi Arabia Qiwa Employment Contract with Najiz Authentication

Key Point

  • Saudi Arabia has introduced a revised Qiwa employment contract that includes automatic authentication through the Najiz portal

Unified Employment Contract

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development confirmed that the updated Qiwa employment contract now integrates with the Najiz portal (Ministry of Justice) for automatic authentication. This change allows employees to escalate contract and wage disputes directly through Najiz, without first involving the Labour Office.

The revised contract formalizes key employment terms and fully replaces the previous version.

Compliance Timelines

Employers must transition to the new Qiwa contract to remain compliant and avoid penalties:

  • Fixed‑term contracts (majority of expatriates): by March 2026
  • Indefinite contracts: by September 2026

Saudi Arabia is strengthening worker protections by requiring employers to adopt the new unified employment contract. Organizations, particularly those with large expatriate workforces, should begin planning for this transition in early 2026 to ensure compliance with the mandatory timelines.
